Novi Sad to host derby of the bottom as NEXE come to visit
After the second defeat of the season against their national rivals in SEHA - Gazprom League Dinamo Pancevo, Vojvodina Novi Sad will have another chance to secure points against a team from the lower part of the table welcoming NEXE Nasice on Tuesday (20.30 CET). Hrvoje Horvat on the other side responded well in their last match losing a narrow one against Zagreb after a somewhat surprising draw against Dinamo Pancevo. Croatian vice-champs will that way have a chance to celebrate second win of the season in Novi Sad with the odds being on their side as well ahead of the match after a routine 33:28 win against Vojvodina in the first part of the season.
Dragan Kukic, Vojvodina coach:
We are in a quite difficult period after a series of defeats. Also, we’ve played a lot of games lately and we simply did not have time to give our players some time to rest, recover and prepare mentally for challenges to come. We are very disappointed with the last match against the team of Pancevo because we played a fantastic first half and then slowed down for no reason at all. Considering our next opponents, NEXE, I have to say they are a very good team which can play in various ways depending on the opponent and a team which is quite good in 7-on-6 actions. We’re poised for a good one.
Milan Jovanovic, Vojvodina player:
We’ve got to get back on our feet after a series of poor results. It is hard to find energy and self-confidence with everything that’s going on right now, especially when you play great for about 40 minutes and then lose everything in a short period of time like we did against Dinamo. We’ll see what happens against NEXE.
Hrvoje Horvat, NEXE coach:
Pancevo was a big enough warning for us. After that match, we showed what it looks like when we step on the court 100% focused. I believe we must repeat that in Novi Sad. I will make some roster changes comparing to the match against PPD Zagreb but I must say I see progress in both attack and defense and that’s what makes me happy. We have two more matches ahead of us until the end of the year and the goal is to keep on rising.
Marin Jelinic, NEXE player:
Difficult schedule is ahead of us but this is no excuse. It will be tough to play in Novi Sad but we must give everything we’ve got in order to take three points.
Match will be broadcasted on Arena Sport channels and ehf TV.
