Second half turnaround puts Vojvodina past NEXE
Serbian champions Vojvodina Novi Sad managed to reach their second SEHA - Gazprom League win of the season beating NEXE Nasice at home with 29:28 (11:14). Fans in Slana bara witnessed a spectacular finish in which young home team goalie Todor Jandric stopped Marin Jelinic’ shot that would tie the match in the final seconds.
After a draw in Pancevo (25:25) Hrvoje Horvat and his boys were eager to finish the Serbian tour successfuly but that did not happen although they seemed to have everything under control a little more than 20 minutes before the final whistle with Vojvodina trailing by five (12:17) at the moment.
However, things started drastically changing with Dimitrije Jelic making a few great saves finishing the match with seven and with Milan Jovanovic catching fire in the middle of the second half leading Vojvodina in attack today with nine goals and three assists. When Radovan Ostojic levelled the match with 10 minutes left to play at 22:22 it became clear the team from Novi Sad might turn it all the way around and celebrate in the end, especially after Jovica Nikolic brought them first lead at 26:25. After that fans could see goal-for-goal match with Radovan Ostojic scoring match-deciding goal with less than a minute to play from left wing where Vojvodina’s playmaker had to help after their only real winger Milos Grozdanic got sent-off during the first half.
Speaking on NEXE, Vedran Zrnic led them today scoring 11 while on the other side upper mentioned Jovanovic netted nine for hosts. Ostojic and Stankovic added 4 each.
