SEHA derbies of the knockout stage in European competitions

Nexe

With the group stage in the books, it is time for the knockout stage in both EHF Champions League and EHF European League. SEHA – Gazprom League has representatives in both competitions. To make it even more interesting, we’ll actually see two direct SEHA clashes in the days to come so without further ado – let’s get into it!

EHF Champions League

Top two teams from each group are already in the quarter-finals which means it is time for the play-offs in which we’ll find out the remaining four teams that will join the Final 4 battle.

In the match which will be in our main focus, Macedonian Vardar 1961 will play reigning SEHA – Gazprom League champions Telekom Veszprem. And while Hungarians have the favorite role in this one, history shows us that no one can afford to underestimate ‘Red&Blacks’. The first match will be played in Skopje on Thursday and the second one a week later in Veszprem.

In the remaining three play-off clashes Elverum will play PSG, Flensburg will battle Szeged and Porto will play Montpellier. Kielce, Aalborg, Barca and Kiel are already in the quarter-finals.

EHF European League

We have, on the other hand, reached Last 16 phase in the European League. Once again, there is one match which we will surely focus on and that is the duel between Nexe Nasice and Eurofarm Pelister. In what will surely be two high-quality encounters, two teams will fight for the quarter-final spot and a great chance to reach the final tournament. The first match will be played on Tuesday in Nasice and the second one only week later in Bitola.

Remaining Last 16 phase matches are Sporting – Magdeburg, Gorenje – Nimes, Lemgo – Wisla Plock. Nantes – Füchse Berlin, Toulouse – Benfica, Bidasoa – GOG and Schaffhausen – Sävehof.

Good luck Vardar, Veszprem, Nexe and Eurofarm!
