Vardar close the year without a single SEHA Gazprom loss with a W against Gorenje
Another SEHA - Gazprom League round - another win for Raul Gonzales and his boys. This time they were with 30:24 better than Gorenje in Velenje finishing the year without a single loss. They were named favorites ahead of the clash and they started proving it from the very first minute not letting anything surprise them and bring the match to a narrow ending. Less than 20 minutes into the match they were already five goals up (11:6) and everyone knows Vardar is probably the toughest team to catch when they widen the gap because of their hustling playing style in which they rarely let themselves slow down. They managed to keep the gap open until the half-time (12:16) slowly enlarging it in the second all the way until final +6 (30:24). Luka Cindric and Jorge Maqueda were once again leading Vardar scoring 7 each while Mijajlo Marsenic added 6. Their goalies Arpad Sterbik and young Daniel Gjorgjeski combined for only 4 saves today but even that didn't help Zeljko Babic and his players stun everyone and at least bring the match to a narrow ending because Vardar have so much qualities they can end up victorius even when one fails them. Speaking of Gorenje Matic Verdinek was 4/4, Gregor Potocnik added 3. Their goalies Klemen Ferlin and Rok Zaponsek were not much better than their Macedonian colleagues stopping 9 shots combined.
Vardar are now done for the year while Gorenje on the other hand still have two matches to play before the winter break - on Saturday they'll play Dinamo in Pancevo and only three days later welcome Meshkov Brest.
